Since the beginning of military actions in Ukraine, Odessa has become one of those cities that have taken upon itself a large part of IDPs from Crimea and area of ATO. Odessa Charity Foundation “Way Home” is directly involved in assistance of IDPs from the Donetsk and Lugansk regions and Crimea. Beginning from June 2014 Foundation gives accommodation for specified organized groups of children and families with children, providing them with food and other necessities. On basis of “Kuyalnik” sanatorium-resort, where live displaced families with children, “Way Home” Foundation hold its activities in center of education and leisure “Kulyanik”.
Target Group of center for education and leisure “Kuyalnik” is aimed on: children of internally displaced families from war zones (Lugansk and Donetsk regions) and Crimea aged from 3 up to 16 years old.
For children from IDP families that temporarily live in the territory of “Kuyalnik resort, Center for Education and Leisure is organized, and includes two groups of children – for preschoolers (children from 3 up to 7 years old) and pupils (children and adolescents between 8 up to 16 years old). Professional mentors and psychologist work in center; pupils attend extra classes of exact sciences and English. Interactive games are held for children from younger group, and in addition to it is organized work of art therapy and dance classes, also near the center a playground is built. Also in center, children and their parents are provided with humanitarian assistance (clothes and shoes, hygiene kites), social support is rendered.
